Claire and Stephen get married – New Years Eve Wedding Photography

A New Years Eve wedding! What could be more lovely! Claire and Stephen got married on this day in 2016 and it was the best wedding!

It all began in the morning as I started photographing Claire and the girls at Newfield Holiday Cottages in Dorset. This place is super cute! http://www.newfieldholidaysdorset.co.uk/

Claire’s dress was spectacular! It was a strapless, fitted body down to the thighs with a full and frilly skirt. It even had feathers on the bust area – it was completely WOW! The bridesmaids dresses didn’t disappoint either! They were all slightly different but were all the same rose gold colour. What can I say about these beautiful girls?! They photographed brilliantly and looked like they’d just stepped out the pages of a glossy magazine.

Rachel from Rachel Elizabeth Photography was my second shooter and she began her day with TJ at Knighton House http://www.knightonhouseweddings.co.uk/ This place is actually a boarding school but with the children away on holiday it is completely transformed into the most wonderful wedding venue!

Once I reached Knighton House the guests were nearly seated and ready for the ceremony. Claire and Stephen had decorated the school beautifully. There were photos of them set out as polaroids propped up in corks and displayed everywhere. Their table plan was also made up of polaroid photos of all their guests. There was a gorgeous bar area complete with beers, wines and fruity cordials. What a cake! It was as perfect as those cakes you see on Pinterest and best of all it was made by their family!

Claire looked so pretty as she walked into the Drawing Room where the ceremony was held – absolutely beaming from ear to ear! The couple chose to do their ceremony slightly differently. They signed the register halfway through the service and popped back out to another room to do so. This was quite nice as it meant they could have a little breather and reflect upon everything that had happened before going in to hear the rest of the readings and complete their service.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and canapes in the main hall while we took the opportunity to capture couple images before the sun went down. Winter weddings mean you are pushed for natural light but luckily we had plenty of time to capture some beautiful images. Group photos were taken out the front of Knighton House and by this point it was getting quite dark so we lit them with some flash.

Shortly before the wedding breakfast was served, the speeches commenced in the main hallway. The speakers took stage up on the staircase which was brilliant! It was nice and relaxed to have speeches in this way. Claire’s Dad started things off, followed by Stephen and then the Best Man. Food was served after this and everyone enjoyed a beautiful 3 course dinner lit with candles. The wedding favours on the tables were crackers – perfect for this time of year!

After dinner, Rachel and I took the couple back outdoors for some creative portraits in the dark. Off camera flash as well as fairy lights were used to make some beautiful images.

Claire and Stephen decided not to do a first dance. They had a DJ but we ended the photography with the cake cutting and I left everyone to see in the new Year. What a wonderful wedding. Thank you so much for having Rachel and I as a part of your New Years Eve wedding photography xxx
