On 5th August 2017 I had the pleasure of photographing Bridget & Will’s special day. They got married in St Peter & St Paul’s Church in Exton, Southampton and the girls got ready in a nearby rented cottage.
The weather wasn’t looking too hopeful when I arrived with the girls for preparation photos. It was threatening us with dark, heavy skies. Sure enough the heavens opened while Bridget got ready. Luckily the rain had stopped by the time the girls walked down the road to the church. Bridget’s strapless dress was light enough for her to pick up and fling over her arm for the short walk. The bridesmaids wore stunning dark green, long strappy dresses. They looked picture perfect as they made their way to the church for the wedding.
Will got ready with the boys at Alton House Hotel. My lovely second photographer Charlotte captured a few images of the boys together before they all made their way to the church. I believe the poor boys got soaked on their journey over in the rain! It really was a day of dodging very heavy showers.
Who doesn’t love a pet as part of a wedding? Bridget and Will bought along their adorable Golden Retriever for the day. Being part of the family meant he should be there too! He loved the cold stone floor of the church! As the couple signed the wedding register the guests were treated to an instrumental band who were friends of the couple. It was the perfect entertainment for the duration.
As the ceremony ended, Will’s Navy boys made their way outdoors to line up for a sword arch exit as the couple then came through the arch and down the pathway for some confetti photos.
The Reception and evening
Sadly, as we arrived at the reception venue the rain started again. It wasn’t just a light shower at this time though – it was torential and it came down for quite some time. Our lovely couple got trapped in their wedding car unable to join their guests as it was too heavy! I think they quite enjoyed a bit of time alone together as a couple to reflect on their marriage.
Eventually the rain stopped and believe it or not, was replaced with glorious sun! This really was a day for all weather scenarios! Guests soon made their way outdoors and enjoyed canapes in the sunshine while I started group photos.
We walked around the grounds of Chawton House and enjoyed the lovely sunshine for our lovely couple photos!
Charlotte and I took a short break after the couple shots as the wedding breakfast began.
The couple had a band for the evening which was fantastic and all the guests were up on their feet joining in! It was the perfect way to end the evening.
Thanks Bridget and Will. What a brilliant day to be a part of! We wish you all the happiness for your future together! x x x
