Janette and Josh get married – Clock Barn Wedding Photographer
When I met Janette and Josh and they asked me to be their Clock Barn Wedding Photographer I was thrilled! The Clock Barn in Whitchurch, Hampshire is one of my favourite venues! The wedding took place in February and this venue is perfect for a cozy Winter Wedding! If you would like to check out the Clock Barn click here.
On 18th February 2017 we woke up to a fresh but bright day for the wedding. Janette and her family got ready at her parents house in Chandlers Ford. It was a busy morning and everyone had to get ready quickly! Janette’s family are Chinese and so there were a lot of lovely traditions to stick to! Firstly – door games! Door games are where the Groom must arrive at the place where the Bride is getting ready and he must complete a set of challenges and games set by the bridemsaids on the doorstep of the house! If he does not pass these games then they shall not marry! Luckily our lovely Groom Josh passed with flying colours! Take a look at some images below for a snippet of the fun things he had to do!
After passing the door games, Josh entered the house and greeted all the family. The next tradition was a Chinese tea ceremony for the Grandparents at the home. It was amazing to see and I am such a tea lover myself that I found this rather interesting!
With the tea ceremony complete, our couple made their way to the Clock Barn in their beautiful wedding car. Myself and second photographer Rachel followed. Once at the Clock Barn another tea ceremony commenced for the rest of the Chinese family and guests. This took place in the lovely Stable Room at The Clock Barn. Again it was amazing to see. By the end of the ceremony Janette was showered with the most stunning gold jewellery and thick gold bangles – she looked amazing and the colours within her traditional red dress popped perfectly!
The English Ceremony
Janette changed into her traditional white wedding dress shortly after the second tea ceremony. Herself and bridemaids got ready in the bridal dressing suite at the back of the Clock Barn. The girls looked radiant and I could tell Janette was both excited and nervous for the marriage vows.
Josh waited patiently at the front of the aisle to greet his lovely bride and the ceremony commenced without a hitch.
The Reception and Evening
The wedding reception was wonderful. Guests enjoyed canapes and I had plenty of time to capture group images along with some beautiful couple shots in the perfect hazy February light. This time of year can be so gorgeous when it’s a dry bright day. We made the most of the weather and even the guests enjoyed the outdoors for their drinks too!
A lovely wedding breakfast commenced soon after. Rachel and I captured some fun speech photographs and laughed along with everyone as Janette’s Brother, Josh and the Best Man made some wonderful jokes.
Evening celebrations kicked off soon after with music and dancing. It was such a perfect end to an amazing wedding! Just before I left we captured some images out in the garden in the dark using some flash guns with some coloured gels to light up the surrounding garden. We had to work quickly as it was a pretty chilly evening!
What a wonderful day. Thank you Janette and Josh for having me as a part of your celebrations. You are a wonderful couple.
