Katie & Samuel – Kimbridge Barn wedding photography
In The Morning
What can I say about this beautiful wedding, other than ‘WOW’! What a perfect day, from start to finish. Katy and Samuel asked me to do their Kimbridge Barn Wedding Photography for them and I was so excited. I’d wanted to shoot at this beautiful venue for absolutely ages and now was my chance! Their marriage took place in early September which is one of my favourite months for shooting. The weather is usually kind, not too hot but just pleasant and September always marks the end of the Summer and beginning of a new season.
Bridal preparation took place at Katie’s Bridemaids home and it was just the two of them getting ready which made for a beautifully relaxed morning and a beautifully relaxed Katie too! She looked absolutely breathtaking. Katie is just stunning anyway, so when Rosie Howard and Lorna Vallender had worked their magic on her she looked like she’d just stepped right out a glossy magazine! Katie’s dress was really beautiful – lace, teamed with delicate straps and a long flowing A-Line skirt. I couldn’t wait to see her all finished with the dress on too.
Winchester Registry Office is a surprisingly elegant place for a wedding. The old stone building features many different quirks which really add a little something extra to your photos. The decor inside is beautiful too – my favourite room being the one in which Katie and Samuel married in – the Basing room. The elegant wallpaper and fairy lights make the perfect backdrop with the harsh, but flattering window light in this room – it really is gorgeous. Just a small number of lucky family and friends attended their ceremony and it was intimate and really special – perfect to be a part of.
Guests made their way to the amazing Kimbridge Barn, while the couple and myself went to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens to capture some couple photos. It was the perfect stop off on the way and the glorious weather meant we were spoilt for choice with where we could shoot. I think I honestly could have stayed and photographed them all day! These two were a natural with the camera and their love for each other just shone through.
When we reached Kimbridge Barn, guests were lined up for a confetti toss and to welcome the newlyweds into the barn. The decor was absolutely fantastic! I can highly recommend Laurel Design Studios if you’re looking for someone to help style your wedding – I mean just LOOK at the wonderful job she did at this wedding – amazing and so unique! The flowers are by the very talented Kay at Pomp & Petals.
Overall, the reception at Kimbridge Barn was so relaxed, I felt like one of the guests. The food was served buffet style and most guests ate on their laps outside in the beautiful weather! There is also the Boot Room where guests could sit and chill on sofas or at tables too. The staff here are just lovely – each and every guest felt looked after and well catered for.
There were no formal speeches for Katie and Sam. The Best Man did, however, do a very impromptu, relaxed, standing speech to the guests in the barn just before the first dance. It was so heartfelt and incredibly emotional!
I’ll leave you with images from the day now. I hope they leave you inspired for your own Kimbridge Barn wedding!
