Emily and Alex get married in Newbury at the gorgeous Wasing Park – Wasing Park Wedding Photography
Awww, where do I start with this beautiful Wasing Park Wedding?! This was the wedding of my good friends Emily and Alex. I met Emily back when we were just 16 years old at College – we both took Mathematics (crazy…yes) and first lesson we were sat opposite each other exchanging looks of complete and utter confusion as to what we were supposed to do – it’s safe to say we’ve been great friends ever since 🙂
Emily asked me to be her photographer not long after the engagement and I couldn’t say no – what an honour to be asked by such a close friend. Over the last few years I’ve really got to know her lovely husband Alex, and he is honestly the most amazing man and a perfect match for Emily. I’m so thrilled that they found each other.
So, back to the wedding. It was the 29th August and the weather was pretty kind to us – it was dry for most of the day – apart from a few spits of very light rain. There wasn’t much sun in store for us, but sometimes an overcast day can be easier in terms of the photography anyway.
Emily got ready at Wasing Park in the beautiful bridal suite. She was joined by bridesmaids Claire and Tamsin (also friends of mine from back in the College days), another bridesmaid from University, Harriet and her niece Amy and other family members including Emily’s lovely parents Roger and Liz. Alex’s Mum, Jo, also joined for the morning preparations which I thought was really special – most Mother’s of the Groom aren’t really with the bride in the morning so I found that really lovely.
Alex was photographed at home in the morning with all the boys. My second photographer was the talented Paul Grace who did a superb job! The boys went to the amazing Nelson’s Diner for brunch after they got dressed – . This diner is such fun and the images that Paul captured of the boys here are brilliant. They had fry ups and milkshakes too – plenty of yummy food to start the day!
As the ceremony time drew nearer, I could tell Emily was getting nervous. She didn’t let it phase her though, and once she was dressed into her gown I think the nerves started to ease – she looked beautiful! The bridesmaids wore a stunning raspberry red which complimented Emily’s colour scheme perfectly.
The ceremony room at Wasing Park is a dream for a photographer – lots of lovely floor length windows = loads of natural light! Emily looked so happy as she came down the aisle towards Alex. It was so amazing to see friends getting married and even better to capture it for them!
After the ceremony, Paul and I got lots of natural images of the guests. We then captured group photos and some couple shots before the wedding party went in for dinner. Emily’s Dad did a speech before the meal – it was a great way to start and he said some lovely words. I could see how proud he was of Emily and how hard he had worked on his lovely speech.
After dinner Alex and best man Mark had their turn at making speeches. They were equally as impressive as Roger’s speech – just the right amount of laughter, tears and meaningful memories.
Light faded quickly after dinner so Emily, Alex and I popped out to the grounds of Wasing Park to capture some last couple shots before it was too dark. By the time we got back it was time to cut the cake so guests could enjoy a cup of tea and a slice before evening celebrations begun.
First dance was brilliant – Emily and Alex had a fantastic band which really kick started the fun and made guests get up to party. I left them shortly after the first dance as I had to get home and ready for another wedding the following day!
Thank you guys for having me as your photographer. It meant the world to me to be able to capture your day as well as being treated like a guest. Have an amazing future together – love you both x x x
